Who are we looking for?
A Senior Mobile Applications Engineer (React Native) to take on a leadership role in maintaining and evolving the technical foundations of the mobile application.
Key responsibilities
- Join the Frontend Platform team, responsible for the foundations of mobile application development and web frontend, assuming primary responsibility for the infrastructure and technical foundations of the mobile application.
- Lead the development, maintenance, and evolution of the React Native application for iOS and Android.
- Maintain and evolve the mobile architecture, tools, dependencies, and development environment, ensuring the platform is reliable, maintainable, and easy to use.
- Improve the developer experience and support engineers from various product teams—including those without deep experience in mobile development—so they can develop and release features with confidence.
- Collaborate with product teams on the design and development of mobile features.
- Use product usage data and delivery metrics to identify opportunities and define investment priorities for the platform and tools.
- Promote continuous improvement of the developer experience and the application's user experience.
- Share knowledge and support teams in adopting practices that make the development and delivery of mobile features safer and more efficient.
Minimum requirements
Required technical skills and knowledge
- Advanced knowledge in mobile application development, tools, and architecture, with strong proficiency in React Native and TypeScript.
- Experience in maintaining and integrating native modules.
- In-depth knowledge of the React Native and Expo ecosystem.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as Copilot or Claude Code, to improve development speed and code quality, particularly to facilitate the participation of engineers without deep experience in mobile development.
- Understand the entire mobile application lifecycle, including development, testing, CI/CD, building, releasing, monitoring, and distribution on the App Store and Google Play.
- Practical experience with infrastructure, tools, and automation for mobile development.
- Fluent English (oral and written).
Preferred technical skills and knowledge
- Experience as a Tech Lead, Software Architect, or mentor.
- Knowledge of web frontend development, Azure Pipelines, MobX, C#, .NET, or SQL.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
- Experience managing a small business or familiarity with accounting, banking, or fintech.
Work model: Hybrid (1x per week at the office in Lisbon or Porto).
