Job Description
Role
As a Senior C++ Motion Planning Engineer (m/f/d), you are responsible for the development, optimization, and integration of high-performance motion planning components for mobile robotics solutions. Your goal is to ensure robust, performant, and reliably integrable driving and movement behavior. You make well-founded, quality-oriented decisions regarding trajectory and motion planning, ensuring that the overall platform remains stable, maintainable, and scalable in the long term.
Responsibilities
- Development and optimization of motion planning algorithms and components in modern C++
- Responsibility for robust, reproducible driving and movement behavior under real system conditions
- Design and implementation of trajectory, motion, and control logic in line with platform requirements
- Integration of motion planning components into the overall architecture (Robot Software, Fleet Software, Runtime Systems)
- Analysis and optimization of performance, stability, and runtime behavior
- Identification, evaluation, and reduction of technical risks in the motion planning environment
- Support with error analysis, debugging, and system tests at the component and system level
- Documentation of technical concepts, assumptions, and decisions to ensure traceability and maintainability
Your Profile
- Completed degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or equivalent
- Several years of professional experience in C++ software development, ideally in the field of motion planning or robotics
- Very good knowledge of modern C++ (e.g., C++17/20) as well as algorithm development and performance optimization
- Experience in integrating complex software components in distributed systems
- Know-how in trajectory and motion planning or comparable systems
- Experience in debugging, error analysis, and evaluation of runtime behavior of complex systems
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented approach, as well as strong quality and systems thinking
- Good German and English skills, both written and spoken
What makes this role special
- Key role for the stability and performance of mobile robotics solutions
- Technically challenging tasks with a direct impact on real systems
