About the opportunity
We are looking for reinforcement for our enterprise solution in the automotive sector.
We are looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer (m/f/d) who will take on technical responsibility, stabilize Git/build quality, ensure reliable releases, and lead the team through modernization – thereby relieving the team lead from day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
- You will take on technical leadership with a strong hands-on component, be responsible for code ownership, provide architectural guidance, and coach your team through pairing.
- Furthermore, you will define, establish, and monitor coding, review, and quality standards across all repositories.
- You will manage Git governance and release management, including branch strategies, pull request processes, and CI/CD-based build and release orchestration.
- Planning and implementing technical system modernization, designing APIs, executing Strangler patterns, and driving the Java and architecture roadmap are also part of your responsibilities.
- You will ensure quality, security, and observability – from the test pyramid and dependency management to logging, tracing, and non-functional requirements.
- You will be responsible for incident and problem management at the 3rd-level support level, conduct root cause analyses, and establish sustainable runbooks and hotfix processes.
- In addition, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and continuously coordinate with Product, Operations, Infrastructure, as well as nearshore and remote teams.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science or a similar field of study.
- 7+ years of Java (11/17), including 3+ years as Lead/Tech Lead.
- Maven Multi-Module in large legacy codebases, solid Git practice (rebase/merge conflicts, release branches, hotfixes).
- Experience with legacy decoupling (Strangler), REST APIs, SQL/JPA.
- Proficient in CI/CD (build/tests/quality gates/artifact management).
- Routine with Bitbucket, Jira/Confluence, ServiceNow.
- Very good German and good English skills.
