KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics GmbH is an IT system house in the security and defense environment. The System Engineering department is involved in the development of solutions for military communication, for hardened hardware platforms, and for monitoring and testing systems. We think in terms of system interdependencies and support our customers throughout the entire lifecycle, from idea generation and requirements analysis through realization and commissioning/fielding to maintenance and servicing. Our focus is on software development, where we cover a wide range of topics from firmware and driver development to middleware and application development and the design of user interfaces. We work together in cross-functional project teams and place great importance on good communication and honest feedback.

WHAT TO EXPECT
- Independent processing of design, implementation, and documentation of complex embedded software on microcontrollers, bare metal, and with OS
- Conducting requirements analyses and participating in system design
- Creation of software architectures, design of APIs, and the creation of documentation for them
- Support of hardware development through reviews of hardware designs and circuit diagrams
- Creation of test concepts for formal acceptance and further tests, as well as the creation of documentation for them
- Participation in the creation of concepts and execution of effort estimations within the scope of acquisition projects
- Analysis and optimization of existing codebases, e.g., identification of bottlenecks and improvement of system performance
WHAT YOU BRING
- Completed degree in Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Several years of professional experience in embedded development
- Deep knowledge in hardware-related software development in C/C++ and Assembler
- Sound electrical engineering knowledge and a good understanding of analog and digital circuit components
- Confident use of collaboration platforms, version control, and development environments
- Willingness to introduce new technologies and best practices and to develop them further within the team
- Willingness for occasional business trips
- Very good German and good English skills
- Self-directed and systematic way of working, quality awareness, creativity, and teamwork skills
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous: Development of systems with requirements for functional safety and IT security, application development in C++, C#, or Python, platform integration of Linux operating systems, knowledge in FPGA development
