About the opportunity
The Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT is part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The institute, headquartered on the campus of the Technical University of Ilmenau, is internationally recognized for its expertise in applied electroacoustics and audio technology, AI-based signal analysis and machine learning, as well as data protection and security.
scientists in Ilmenau work on technologies for the secure and efficient AI-based detection and classification of audio and video data. These technologies are used, among other things, for monitoring industrial production processes, but also for traffic monitoring or in the media context, for example, when it comes to identifying audio manipulations. An important aspect is the trustworthy and data protection-compliant processing of the data. Another focus is the development of algorithms for virtual product development, intelligent actuator-sensor systems, and automotive audio. Currently, around 120 employees are employed at Fraunhofer IDMT in Ilmenau.
Under the slogan "Where AI means Audio Intelligence"
The "Media Distribution and Security" (MDS) group conducts applied research in the context of media forensics, media security, and technical data protection as well as trustworthy AI. The developed technologies can be used for disinformation detection, media authentication, and for data protection-friendly analysis and recommendation services in various application areas. Together with other research groups at the institute, MDS ensures that technologies for analyzing industrial and environmental noise, for automatic annotation of media data, and for intelligent sensor technology are not only powerful but also secure and trustworthy.
