We are looking for a Senior COBOL Developer to work on the development, maintenance, and evolution of applications in a Mainframe environment.
We are seeking a professional with solid experience in COBOL development, working with online and batch routines, knowledge of JCL, CICS, DB2, and file manipulation, as well as the ability to analyze and resolve problems in highly complex environments.
This person will have greater technical autonomy, contributing to solution analysis, impact identification, legacy system evolution, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.

Your mission
Act autonomously in the development, maintenance, and evolution of solutions in a Mainframe environment, performing technical analyses, identifying impacts and risks, proposing solutions, and ensuring the quality and stability of applications.
Your main responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and evolve applications using COBOL, working with online and batch routines;
- Perform technical analysis, diagnosis, and problem-solving in Mainframe systems;
- Develop and perform maintenance on JOBs using JCL;
- Analyze impacts and dependencies for implementing changes and new functionalities;
- Work on the maintenance and evolution of legacy systems, considering technical and business requirements;
- Access and manipulate data, files, and DB2 databases;
- Work with CICS in online applications;
- Perform tests, validations, code analysis, and corrections, ensuring the quality and reliability of deliverables;
- Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to the technical evolution of solutions;
- Support the investigation and resolution of complex incidents and problems;
- Document analyses, solutions, processes, and maintenance performed;
- Use environment tools, such as TSO, Debug Tools, ChangeMan, Hexavision, and Jira;
- Contribute technically to the team, sharing knowledge and supporting less experienced professionals when necessary;
- Actively participate in the rituals and ceremonies of agile methodologies;
- Work collaboratively with technical teams and other stakeholders in problem-solving and solution evolution.
For this position, you need to have
- Solid experience in COBOL development, including online and batch routines;
- Experience with JCL for JOB development and maintenance;
- Experience with CICS and DB2;
- Knowledge of file manipulation, including PDS and sequential files;
- Experience with TSO;
- Experience with tools like ChangeMan and Debug Tools;
- Ability to perform code analysis, problem diagnosis, and impact assessment;
- Experience in maintaining and evolving legacy systems in a Mainframe environment;
- Experience with agile methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban;
- Good communication and collaborative work skills;
- Autonomy, sense of responsibility, and ability to resolve complex problems.
It would be a plus
- Experience with Hexavision;
- Experience in highly complex and high-volume transactional environments;
- Experience in critical or high-availability systems;
- Knowledge of processes and best practices for development in a Mainframe environment;
- Experience supporting professionals at earlier levels technically;
- Ability to propose improvements and optimizations in existing applications and processes.
