Tyk Technologies
Junior Developer Relations Advocate
Who are Tyk, and what do we do?
The Tyk API Management platform is helping to drive the connected world and power new products and services. We’re changing the way that organisations connect any number of their systems and services. Whether internal, external, public or highly encrypted systems, Tyk helps businesses drive value across the retail, finance, telecoms, healthcare, or media industries (to name just a few!)
If you’ve banked online, used an app to check the news, or perhaps even driven a connected car, API’s, and by extension, Tyk, make that possible. Founded in 2015 with offices in London - UK, London - Ontario, Atlanta and Singapore, we have many thousands of users of our B2B platform across the globe. Brands using Tyk range from Lotte, Bell, T Mobile, to RBS, Capital One and Vinci. We have a varied user base hailing from every continent – even Antarctica.
Our Mission
Tyk is on a mission to connect every system in the world. We’ve started by building an API Management platform.
If this sounds like an environment that you believe could work for you then read on to find out more.
The role
APIs are quietly becoming the plumbing of every AI product being built right now. We want someone who can explain that clearly, warmly and without jargon to developers figuring it out in real time: on a blog, on camera, or standing next to them at a meetup.
This is a public-facing, on-camera, in-person role. You'll be out where developers are, connecting them with Tyk: writing, recording, showing up, and turning what you're learning into content other people can learn from too. If you already make content because you love it, and you want to make it your full-time job, this is the role for you!
You'll start by heading to events alongside teammates who've been doing this for years, then step up to demos, talks and hosting your own sessions as your confidence grows.
We all share the same vision - we value authenticity, respect, responsibility, independence, honesty, diversity and inclusion and most importantly treating others how you wish to be treated. We look for like-minded people who bring their personalities to work everyday, strive to achieve their personal goals and who are willing to challenge the way we do things, why? - to make what we do even better!
Our values tell the story of Tyk - here’s how:
- It’s ok to screw up!
We’ve found that it’s often the ‘stupid’ or unexpected ideas that turn out to be the successful ones - so try it, at least we can say we have!
- The only stupid idea, is the untested one!
It’s in our DNA - starting a business with founders 12 hours apart, giving our gateway away for free - sure, we did that, and we’d do it again!
- Trust starts with you - make it count!
Trust is a two-way street - instil it from day one!
- Assume best intent!
We have each other’s back - we’re all on the same team. Think before you speak or act.
- Make things better!
Always try to leave things better than when you found them - change is constant, inevitable and embraced! Be that change we want to see.

- Employee share scheme
- Generous maternity and paternity leave
- Volunteering Days
- Company retreats
- Employee Wellbeing platform
What you'll actually do
- Create content - blog posts, tutorials, videos, and screen-share walkthroughs on real ecosystem topics (MCP, OpenAPI, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, Security, governance, and anything at the AI/API intersection) and real customer implementation stories. Teaching over pitching.
- Keep documentation developers actually want to read up to date, alongside everything else you're creating.
- Make meetups your bread and butter - one or two events a week, from scrappy local meetups to the big conferences. Short demos, real conversations with attendees, our swag in your backpack. You'll attend, present and increasingly host them yourself, with regular travel across Europe (including London) built into the role.
- Train and support real users face to face, and feed what you hear back to product and marketing.
- Learn in public. Share what confuses you, not just what you've mastered. Picking up Tyk, OWASP API security, rate limiting or distributed architecture in real time is the content, and that's what makes it useful and human.
- Build a real, problem-led presence in the communities that matter (Reddit, Hacker News, dev X/Twitter, YouTube): helpful answers and honest takes over polished product pieces.
Minimum requirements
What we're looking for
- You're already making tech content, consistently - on YouTube, a blog, LinkedIn, wherever. Not a one-off: show us something you’ve made, and that you keep making it.
- Real experience doing something adjacent to this already: Developer Advocate, Community Manager, Technical/Solutions Support, Technical Content Creator, Campus Ambassador, or a junior engineering role with a visible content or community side project.
- Comfortable with travel across Western Europe as a regular part of the role.
- You must already have the right to work and travel across Europe - we can't sponsor visas for this role, so if that's not already in place, this one unfortunately isn't open to you right now.
- Comfortable working from the command line/ terminal, and know your way around containers and Kubernetes. We're not asking for deep API or AI expertise (that part, we teach), but basic infra fluency and a grasp of core API concepts matter.
- Fluent with AI tools day-to-day, with the judgment to tell AI-assisted work from AI slop.
- Comfortable writing and speaking about technical topics, even while you're still building depth on APIs specifically.
- Genuine curiosity about AI and APIs, self-directed hustle, and energy for a small, fast-moving team.
We care more about how you communicate than how deep your API knowledge already runs - that part, we can teach. What we can't hand you is the drive to go learn it yourself, or the nerve to get in front of a camera or a room of strangers before you feel ready. We can't wait to see your curiosity and confidence in action.
Nice to have
- An existing following or community footprint (blog, GitHub, YouTube, conference talks).
- Hands-on exposure to Kubernetes, observability tooling, CI/CD pipelines, or API management.
