The Role
At Sovos, we're expanding our technical writing team and looking for someone who can balance deep technical fluency with a user-first mindset. You'll help craft exceptional software experiences through content that anticipates user needs, leveraging AI tools to accelerate and enhance how we create documentation. More specifically, you will:
- Leverage AI tools to generate, accelerate, and refine high-quality documentation, exploring AI-driven solutions that enhance the entire content lifecycle.
- Utilise artificial intelligence to conduct product research, identify knowledge gaps, and surface insights that inform content strategies.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation for a wide audience, including end users, partners, administrators, and developers.
- Update and maintain existing documentation, including release notes, installation guides, administration guides, developer guides, API reference guides, and use cases.
- Create and publish release notes for multiple software development teams, translating technical updates into outcome-focused announcements.
- Collaborate with Support, Product, and other client-facing teams to ensure users are informed of outages, regulatory updates, and information that may impact their success.
- Ensure all user-facing content is aligned with our global tone and voice, maintaining consistency in style and attention to detail.
Minimum requirements
What You Bring to Sovos
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- You've built solid experience as a technical writer for minimum 5 years, ideally creating documentation for software users across multiple audiences.
- Experience with structured authoring, DITA, or minimalist writing approaches.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with a sharp eye for making content more accessible and easier to understand.
- Comfort working on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising deliverables for multiple stakeholders, and producing quality content within tight deadlines.
- Initiative to learn new tools and technologies as required, including AI-assisted workflows and effective troubleshooting skills.
- Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire.
- Bonus: familiarity with regulatory or compliance software, enterprise or SaaS documentation, or tools such as Jira, Figma, Heretto, Claude.ai, Devin.ai, or Copilot.
